Are you Crafty?

I would like to share an easy, inexpensive Fourth of July craft that I got from a magazine.
You'll need:
Pipe Cleaners: magazine called for red and blue ones but all Michael's had was white
Glitter: red and blue and I also got multi-colored
Glue
Scissors

Get 6 pipe cleaners and cut them in half, dip both ends, up about an inch, in to the glue.  Then dip the ends in to whatever glitter color you choose.  Let them dry.  Then take 11 of the sticks and use the 12th to wrap them all up.  Then take the sticks and spread them out so they look like a firework!

Its messy but fun!  Sorry I didn't share before the holiday.  Here are our pictures:

Listening to directions carefully.

Had a little fun in the glitter afterwards.
They turned out beautiful!

Wordless Wednesday

Red, White, and Blue...

Wanted to post about our Fourth of July festivities!  We had several patriot outfits to get through thanks to our Mormors!  Friday, since the Hubs had the day off we headed to Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags.  We were a little nervous about it being packed but it wasn't bad at all (it got REALLY crowded by the time we left at 2:30).  The girls both loved it.  They both really loved the wave pool!  That evening we hung with our good friends.  Saturday we hit a parade near by.  Three words describe this parade water, loud, and candy.  The kids were in heaven!  We played around the house and had naps and then headed to a friend's parent's house for a Fourth of July pool party.  We left there to make it up to our place for fireworks with our neighbors.  Our neighbor's daughter, who is going in to fourth grade, held Brynn before the show and she ended falling asleep and actually slept through the whole thing.  Bella spent the show sitting on our neighbors lap!  It was a perfect, rather cooler than usual, Fourth Of July!  Hope you enjoyed yours too.  Thanks to all the men and women who served and are serving our country!  Here are some of my favorite pics:

Making sure her buddy is watching the parade!
Get that candy!

Having fun waving to everyone and sucking her lollipop!
Bella could live in a pool!  What a fun way to spend the 4th!

Our neighbor had the magic touch and she slept through it all!

It is impossible these days to get a pic of the two of them, here's the best of the bunch!

Happy Fourth of July!

Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It's Not Me Monday time! This fun blog idea was created by MckMama for all of us out there that need to come clean, or would like to, rather. We all have things out there that we can't believe we've done or we swore we'd never do, why not share it with the blog world, then visit MckMama's site to see what others are admitting to!

I am NOT way excited to finally have an iphone where I can now keep notes, so I do not forget my not me's and other post ideas before I have a chance to write them.  Nope, not me!

The hubs did NOT mention to me this last week that he has been researching ways to conceive a boy.  Nope, not him.
And no, we are not trying quite yet.  And I really mean no. : )

I did NOT go out in public, all day, without "supportive" measures under my attire, if you know what I mean.  Nope, not me, I could never get away with that!

This week I also did NOT discover a missing sippy of milk in Bella's play kitchen's fridge and discover we had cheese!  Nope, not me.

Our poop puppy did NOT go two days without food, other than table scraps and old treats I found, because were too busy this weekend to get more food for him.  Nope, not Beckham.

Last, but not least, Bella has NOT been sleeping on her pull out Dora couch because she had an accident in her bed and I haven't had a chance to wash them.  Nope, not Bella!

I do NOT and would NEVER be known to have a small pile up of diapers in my hallway, that haven't quite made it outside.  Nope, not me.

$170 or $59.50?

SO I had to share something with all my bloggie friends.  I just got the best deal EVER!  This never happens to me and I am so excited to share.  Kelli you would be SO proud of me.

So Bella has reached the weight requirement where she can be in a booster (30 pounds).  I did a little research on different booster seats.  In my research I also read that its safest to keep your child in a 5 point harness as long as you can and until at least 40 pounds.  Since Bella doesn't care one way or another I want to keep her in a 5 point harness as long as I can.  Now the Britax carseat she was currently using could hold her until 65 pounds but the Britax that Brynn is using isn't our favorite.  When we did our convertible carseat research we found that Britax has the best safety ratings.  It's definitely the safest but probably the most expensive.  At the time we had extra finances so we just bit the bullet.  That's when we got Bella this carseat.

Now when it came time for Brynn to move up we just didn't have the money to afford the Britax but still wanted its safety.  I amazingly found one only a couple years old for $10 at a garage sale.  Even though I was assured it was accident free you just never know, so buying from a garage sale just made me a little uneasy.  Also the cover's elastic had loosened and was always coming off.  Well needless to say with tough economic times we worked with what we had, so Brynn has been using this carseat.

The girlies wanted to be in the picture. : )
Now after my booster research I found a Graco carseat, also with good safety ratings but a bit more reasonably priced, $170, that I thought was perfect.  It is a 3 in 1 carseat.  You can use it as a high back booster seat with a five point harness, then as a high back booster used with the seatbelt, and then the high back comes off to use just the bottom as the more "grown up" booster.  Good bang for your buck right?!  Although, its still a lot of bucks.  Since this was not an absolute need for us right now we were just going to sit tight until it got cheaper or we got some extra $. Well now for the exciting story, I know sorry lots of leading up to it huh? Anywho, we were walking through Walmart the other evening getting a gift.  I actually glanced at the carseat I had my eye on and saw it was on sale for $155-getting better.  On our way to the toy section we walked past this display.  On it, it said $59.50 and below it I saw several boxes of the Graco Nautalius 3-in-1, the carseat I wanted!  I told the Hubs, if this is for real we're buying it immediately.  The Hubs continued on to the toy section with the girls and I stayed to ask someone about the carseat.  The lady scanned it, nope $155.  Must have been misplaced she said.  So I said but there are several there (this is why Kelli would be proud, normally I would have walked away already and not pushed it).  So she looks and scans a couple more, nope still $155.  So she asks me if I'd like to see a manager, and totally out of character, I said yes.  Well shortly Assistant Manager Steve came, looked over the situation and said, "Well we've got to give it to her for that price" as he's removing the $59.50 from the display.  Can you believe it!?  I got it for $110 off!  That never happens to me.  I can't even tell you how elated I was.  As I went to head to the toy section to tell the Hubs the good news, while carrying this HEAVY box across the store so fast so they wouldn't change their minds, I happen to glance back at the display and on the other side where there were mattresses was the $155 price!!  What a steal, whoohoo! : )

Our Trip Day Three, Part Three....

I have to tell you I surely appreciate you hanging in there with me. Today I will finally wrap up our trip to Minnesota!  If you've missed my originals post here they are in order: Day 1 and Day 2, Day 3 Part 1, Day 3 Part 2.  So on to Day 3 Part 3.

So after our fancy McDonald's dinner.  We went home and quickly changed the girls out of their dresses.  Sadly, the day we arrived in Minnesota my Uncle Mike's (married to Auntie Lina my dad's sister) father past away.  So Sunday evening, after our crazy day of family visiting and traveling we headed over to the Anderson's (Uncle Mike's family) home to pay our respects.  Bella and Brynn took this opportunity for some more Auntie Lina time!

After a short visit, we finally headed "home" and completely crashed. And wouldn't you know it the girls finally slept past 6:30, they waited a whole, whopping 45 minutes later to wake up the next morning!  So that morning after a nice family breakfast we started saying our goodbyes.

I must tell a story.  The other day the Hub's, while watching the girls playing together, asked Bella who her best friend was (trying to get her to say her sister, Brynn) but she looks right at him and says, "Auntie Lina!"

It's always sad to say goodbye to family.  The Hub's and I, although blessed with great friends, often feel the pain of not having family close, so we cherish these trips no matter how quick they might be!
